Some SEO Web Design Tips

In order to prepare a good website with powerful search engine, one should try to keep this all things in mind when preparing a website. This will help user to get there site easily on searching. Below are the points which should be taken care off:

  • Web-Design should be as simple as possible. It helps to load the site easily and can be indexed by search engine robots
  • Using frames in your website takes too long to load and hence it becomes difficult to crawl through the website
  • Unique *Meta** title tags* helps the robots to determine the different web pages in a website
  • The page name or URL must consist of the relevant keywords as it gives an idea of what the page is all about
  • The Page name should be maintained with a suitable length
  • Try to keep the words in the URL separated by using ‘hyphen’ between words in the page. Avoid using underscores
  • The Page Size must not be too large
  • Always use your targeted keywords in H1 or H2 tags. These robots give a lot of importance to H1 tags
  • Keep the text simple and clear so that robot can easily read it
  • Try to maintain a word limit for all the web pages with about 350 to 600 words for each web page
  • Do not use more images on a web page. It becomes difficult to index images and moreover it takes lot of time to load a web-page
  • If images are being used, then Give appropriate alt text for all images in a web page. Try to use keywords in alt text
  • Also, try not to use Flash if not required. It also takes lot of time to load a page and cant be indexed
  • Avoid embedding the text in your flash work. The search cannot index text embedded in a flash work
  • Image navigation is not search engine friendly and hence, try to avoid it as well. Instead use text navigation in a web page as it helps the user as well as search engines to navigate smoothly
  • Make a detailed Sitemap of a website. This will help the search engine to easily navigate to any webpage from this web page
  • Always prefer placing the logo on the upper left hand corner of the web page. The search engine can read the web page like a human from left to right and top to bottom
  • Use of Pop–Ups should be avoided on the web page.  Use only if necessary as it disturbs the visitors
  • Use of breadcrumb in a website is preferable as it helps user to navigate easily. The breadcrumb must consist of relevant words and is corresponding content within that page
  • Always create an error page of your website. This will help users to guide themselves to the proper URL incase they have entered improper or incomplete URL
  • Also the Footer link must be designed properly so that the search engine can easily navigate through the web pages
  • Try to remove all the useless codes in the HTML file and make it simple
  • Avoid using tables if not necessary as too many codes are used in a table and may take time to load page. Instead try to use DIVs structure, which has less coding and takes less loading time. It has become highly search engine friendly because the robots can easily index it
  • Maintain an External JavaScript and Use External CSS rather than coding it in the main  source file
